My Week in iPhone Pics & Daughter of Smoke and Bone

Bear with me for a slightly disjointed, but no less charming (I'm modest) post.

1. Sleepy 2. So psyched at the pumpkin patch 3. WAY harder than I remember 4. Happy girl breaking out of her sicky fog
5. Daddy's fleece makes the best dress 6. Hat 7. Here chicky chicky 8. S'more what? I haven't had anything yet
9. For real, that hat! 10. Tree tunnel with Daddy 11. Running hat 12. Jewelry theif
13. blurry sick baby 14. For realz mom I feel totally better, lets get this jacket on and go outside 15. Piggies 16. Alfalfa

Today (Friday the 14th) is Ryan's 31st(!) birthday. He deserves his own post but that will have to wait for a time when I have sufficient energy to adequately gush.

Young blonde Chelsea says "I love you Ryan!" (Old brunette Chelsea does too)

On another note, last night my sister and I had the opportunity to attend a book signing for what has quickly become a favorite book by a favorite author. I have spoken about Laini Taylor before and when Emily saw that she would be signing at the bookstore right by her house she knew we would have to go.

The book is called Daughter of Smoke and Bone and it is beautiful. If you aren't frightened away by the idea of angels, monsters and flying girls with blue hair (honestly, who would be anything but intrigued?) then I highly recommend you read this book. It is the first of three and it is different than anything I have ever read. Yes, there are fantastical characters, but in reality it is a story about love and war and family and sacrifice. It was thrilling, compelling and very very funny. Go buy it.

You're welcome.

Via Laini's awesome blog

Plus, she was so kind, funny and humble in person, AND... she gave me this:

So apparently I had some gushing energy after all, sorry Ryan.

Why oh why were we too embarrassed to take a picture with Laini and her pink hair and you and your Madrigal mask?! Love you sister. And my first thought upon seeing the bathtub picture wasn't Alfalfa but Cindy Lou Who!
