6 Months. Wait 6 Months?!

Mila at 6 Months:

The words I would use to describe this little bean at 6 months: Happy, mellow, cuddly, giggly, smiley... see a theme here? I mean seriously she has her moments but this girl is such a little ray of sunshine. Like all the time. Like she cried when she got her shots the other day and then looked at the nurse and smiled. I've seen pictures of myself as a kid with the same expressions ("Hi, I'm just so happy to be here!") so maybe it is just a second child thing. I'm not going to question her motives, I'm just going to enjoy.

Also in typical second child fashion she doesn't totally have a nap schedule. I guess with Lily I never really had a "schedule" per se until she was consistent with only two naps. Mila is usually a two-napper, but on an early wake-up day could still do three. She usually nurses and then falls asleep on my shoulder, then I swoon at her for awhile before putting her down. She is a pretty good sleeper at night, usually waking either once at the beginning of the night or around 5am to snack and chat and then go back to sleep for a bit. Her naps can be anywhere from 30 min to 2 1/2 hours, but as long as she wakes up happy I don't really care.

When Lily was this age I stressed hard core about naps. How long they were, where she slept, how she fell asleep etc. etc. I think part of it was that naps were my alone time, my time to feel like my old self. I could watch TV, catch up on blogging (gasp!), clean my house (*cough* right). But now when Mila naps... I still have this other kid who needs me and for some reason doesn't want me to hear what is happening on this episode of Parenthood. On the rare day that the stars and planets align for the elusive double nap, angels sing, greys anatomy is watched, every once and awhile I have a glass of wine (Don't judge me judgey!), and sometimes SOMETIMES I do laundry.

So yeah, Mila at 6 months, she is a go with the flow baby and it is all I can do to stop smooching her cheeks and get anything done.
