Soooo Late 16 Month Post

Ok, so you have been 16 months for abouuuuut 2 1/2 weeks now. Time for Mama to get her act together!

Here we go!

{Your first balloon!}

I know I say it every month, but it is true every time: you are becoming such a little person! You understand and say more every day. It is both amazing and sad at the same time. I am so proud of you and the kind-hearted, curious little girl you are becoming, but it is all happening way too fast and I am doing my best to stay in the moment.

{Kisses for Grandpa's dog Molly}

{Whoooa!}

Your words are: mama, dada, baby, cheese, please, peas (all sound the same), egg, green bean (I know!), hi (the most used word and always with an exclamation point Hi!), whoa, and even more that I am forgetting. But by far your favorite word to say is: SHOES! You are your mama's daughter! You always say it with such delight as if it takes up several syllables and always with an upward inflection in the middle. shoOOoes!

 {Playing with your shoes. They are sparkly, surprise!}

 {Eating, and saying(!), green beans}

You have had so many nicknames since birth and the list keeps growing: Peanut, Princess Peanut, Princess Pea, Little Pea, Little Bean, Bug, Bugaboo, Lilybug, Lilybean, Lulabelle, Lula, Lou, Scooby-doo, Snicker Doodle, Shmoops, Snoot Face McGee and many more. I mostly call you Lulu, I don't know why, it just happens. You do answer to all of the above, which I think means you are a genius.

You are a crazy walker running all over the place. You still take some pretty amazing spills now and again, but you are much more comfortable on your feet.

You still love all music and now you have the craziest dance moves. They usually consist of running in place and some crazy angled arm movements. See this dancing video for example.

{Maybe you can't tell, but you are doing a fancy jig in these photos}

{Jiggity jig jig}

{Ooooh, this makes noise when I do my jig!}

You are such a great snuggler and so loving. You give lots of hugs and kisses, I love your look when you are leaning in for a kiss. You even kiss your books because you love them so much.

You love love love being outside. I can no longer keep you contained in a stroller for long, you want to run and be one with nature. Or make piles of dirt on your shoes. ShoOOoes! I am determined to keep going outside as much as possible once the weather turns crummy, you just love it too much and it makes me happy to see you so happy.

{Huck Finn}

Your hair is still crazy. I just try to keep it out of your face most days. I haven't cut your two rebel curls, I just can't bring myself to do it.

{I heart your crazy curls}

You have the best belly and you love to show us your belly button. You will also lift up your shirt to get belly raspberries from Daddy.

You are down to one nap now and it is so much easier to put you down for your nap. You are so cute and snuggly, I love it.

We have had a rough time with molars coming in and now your canines are moving too. This is disrupting your sleep, poor kid. You are usually waking up once at night lately. A few times it has taken us HOURS to get you back to sleep, but I know it won't last forever and I'm glad I don't remember what teething feels like. Luckily you are so cute that we don't (really) mind the middle of the night wake-up calls.

We are officially done with breastfeeding as of a week and a half ago. My goal had been to make it to a year and then just sort of see how it went after that. We were down to just nursing before bed (and now and again in the middle of the night) for awhile and then there were a couple of nights I wasn't home at bed time and you went to bed just fine without me. Actually you slept better! So we just kind of went from there. It seems you haven't really noticed so I think you were ready. It has been harder for me to let go, but I'm ok now :)

All of these things just mean that you are growing up and that makes me so proud. What a bright little light you have become.

{Onward and upward!}
